MIAMI GARDENS, FL – The 2026 Miami E-Prix delivered high-voltage drama under stormy skies at the Miami International Autodrome, marking a memorable third round of Season 12 on January 31, 2026.

Surrounded by the iconic Hard Rock Stadium, the circuit hosted the all-electric series for the first time. It replaced previous street layouts with a challenging mix of high-speed straights and technical infield sections. While the weekend began with sunshine, the race itself became a test of nerve and precision as the weather turned.

Qualifying: Müller Shines in the Dry

Earlier in the day, qualifying took place in dry conditions, allowing for blistering pace. Nico Müller, driving for the Porsche Formula E Team, claimed his maiden pole position with a stunning lap of 55.455 seconds, edging out the field with a clean, committed run. It was a milestone moment for the Swiss driver, though the advantage of pole would soon be tested by the elements.

Race: The Storm Arrives

As the start time approached, heavy rain began to fall, forcing Race Control to initiate a Safety Car start to allow the field to gauge the slippery surface. The precipitation upended strategies, with energy management becoming secondary to pure car control and grip.

Mitch Evans of Jaguar TCS Racing, starting from ninth, drove a patient and masterful race. As the track conditions remained tricky, he steadily climbed through the field. The decisive moment came on Lap 27, when Evans executed a brilliant switchback move on race leader Müller. Faking a move to the inside, he forced the Porsche driver to defend, then dipped to the wider line to cut underneath and seize the lead on the exit.

Once in front, the New Zealander controlled the pace, pulling away to take the checkered flag with a comfortable margin of 3.151 seconds.

History Made

Evans’ victory was his 15th career Formula E win, breaking the all-time record previously held by Sébastien Buemi. The win also ended a frustrating points drought for Jaguar in the season’s opening rounds.

Podium and Points

Behind Evans, Nico Müller held firm to finish second, converting his pole into a podium and demonstrating Porsche’s raw speed. His teammate Pascal Wehrlein completed the rostrum in third, securing a massive points haul for the German manufacturer.

Further back, Joel Eriksson secured a career-best fourth place for Envision Racing. Although not a rookie, as he previously raced for Dragon/Penske in 2021, this result marked a triumphant return to full-time competition for the Swede.

Mahindra Racing also had a strong showing, with Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara rounding out the top six. Antonio Felix da Costa brought the second Jaguar home in eighth, adding valuable points to the team’s tally.

With the championship battle heating up, the paddock now turns its attention to the upcoming double-header in Jeddah. For now, however, the spotlight belongs to Mitch Evans, the new king of Formula E race wins.
