Joey Logano won the Bristol Night Race on September 19, making the decisive move on Lap 494 of the 500-lap NASCAR Cup Series event.
The Team Penske driver used the lower lane to get ahead as the leading group battled through the closing laps. Kyle Larson finished second and Carson Hocevar third, with Christopher Bell and Ty Gibbs completing the top five.
The result gave Logano his third victory of the season and the 40th of his Cup career. He also moved to third in the championship standings, 16 points behind Larson.
Larson left Bristol with a one-point advantage over Denny Hamlin, who finished eighth. That narrow margin sets up the next round at Kansas Speedway on September 27.
NASCAR confirmed that post-race inspection was completed without an issue, leaving Logano’s victory official. After starting the final restart in fourth, he converted the late opening into a result that strengthened his title challenge.
